Saturday 30-10-2021 - 07:00

The tastiest way to discover a different culture is in the kitchen. We’re sharing an iconic African or Caribbean recipe every week in October for Black History Month. Why not give this one a try?

Have a recommendation? Tried the below recipe? We’d love to hear from you on our socials @UWTSDUnion #FoodFridays.

This week it’s Fufu, an essential food of West Africa. This dough-like finger food is a perfect vehicle to eat stew and soupy dishes.

Origin

It’s said that Fufu originates from Ghana, but Fufu is an extremely popular dish throughout West and Central Africa. It is also known as a staple food in some parts of the Caribbean such as the Dominican Republic.

Fufu comes in many different varieties as it has been adapted in many countries. However, most countries eat Fufu with similar dishes, it can be eaten alone but often goes well with stews and soup bringing all the juiciness with each bite.
