Having a place to call your own is important. Both us and the University appreciate that a move from Lampeter to Carmarthen for your studies may mean a move of where you live. This blog will go through how both the SU and the University have worked together to support you.

Moving into Uni Accommodation in Carmarthen

This applies to students who live in university accommodation in Lampeter and will relocate to Carmarthen uni accommodation, or to students who live in private accommodation in Lampeter and wish to relocate to uni accommodation in Carmarthen. 

• The University has more than enough accommodation for current Lampeter students to move into Carmarthen university accommodation.
• Your accommodation fee will remain at the same rate as it is at present until the end of your current Undergraduate degree programme; for Postgraduate students, the rent will remain at the same rate for 2 years (Academic year 2025-2026 and 2026-2027).
• We have worked with the University to offer £600 off your first semester’s rent as a thank you for your patience.
• If you don’t live in uni accommodation but wish to move to uni accommodation in Carmarthen, contact the accommodation team at accommodation@uwtsd.ac.uk.

Moving into Private Accommodation in Carmarthen

This applies to students who live in uni accommodation in Lampeter and will relocate to private accommodation in Carmarthen, or those currently living in private accommodation in Lampeter and moving to private accommodation in Carmarthen. 

• As noted above, there is ample accommodation on the Carmarthen site if you would prefer to live in halls (it's appreciated this isn’t always possible)

Key Dates for 2025/26

Here are some key dates for the start of the 2025/26 academic year:

• Move-in date of Saturday, 20 September
• Induction on Monday, 22 September 
• Teaching will begin on Monday, 29 September (the block system will remain in place)

Carmarthen Students Rent Freeze

We have good news for Carmarthen students - the University will not increase its accommodation fees for the 2025/26 Academic Year! A massive well done to our Presidents for campaigning for this, and a thank you to the University for working with our officers to make this a reality.
