It’s the start of the 2025/26 already - where did the summer go? We’re taking a moment to tell you all about our student bar, club, and social spaces in Carmarthen, so whether you’re returning to Carmarthen or coming for the first time, keep reading!

The Y Llofft Student Bar is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 20:00 - 23:30 (with last orders at 23:00). And Y Clwb is open for club nights and select events - so times and dates may change - view the line-up on our events page, or by reading our events posters in the SU building and around campus.

Y Llofft Student Bar and Social Space

There are two sides to Y Llofft: the student social space side and the bar side. Let's go through the things on offer for you.

Y Llofft: Social Space

It’s your place to go outside of lectures to meet up with friends, chill out, play a few games, and study somewhere with a more relaxed vibe.

What’s In Y Llofft? You’ll find a Smart TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime, a free-to-use pool table and ping pong table, a Sony PlayStation 5, a Nintendo Wii - both have a solid game selection - and plenty of board games, books, and films. And it goes without saying that we have large comfy sofas, lots of tables - both big and small, plenty of seating- perfect for chillouts, catch-ups, big get-togethers, and study sessions.

Opening Hours: Y Llofft Social Space is open Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00*

*The Y Llofft Social Space is currently open for you to use anytime between Monday to Friday, 09:00 and 17:00. We are working with the university to get swipe card access sorted, so you can use it for longer hours and more days. We’ll update you as soon as we can.

Y Llofft: Student Bar

To keep you entertained, we’re opening the bar in Y Llofft on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 20:00 - 23:00 (last drinks are at 23:00) - and we’ll be running surprise events from time to time, so keep checking out our line-up.

Y Clwb: Student Club

This is Carmarthen’s on-campus student club. It’s a big venue bringing you club vibes, with powerful speakers to get things bouncing. What type of events do we run? Think live music gigs, freshers balls, summer balls, silent discos. Y Clwb is open exclusively for planned events - so visit our Y Clwb Line-up webpage or check out one of our posters.

Accessibility

Y Llofft

1. Y Llofft is located on the first floor, accessible via stairs (with approx 20 steps) and a lift.
2. There is even flooring throughout.
3. Y Llofft has good lighting throughout the venue.
4. There’s a TV, which can sometimes get loud, but there are plenty of spaces further away for those who prefer things a bit quieter.

Y Clwb

1. Y Clwb is located on the ground floor.
2. There is even flooring throughout, with some sections accessible via ramps and stairs.
3. Y Clwb has nightclub-style lighting - including strobes, and loud speakers.

SU Building

1. There are toilet facilities on the ground floor, including an accessible toilet with baby changing facilities.
2. There is university wi-fi throughout the building.
3. There is plenty of parking around the SU building, with designated bays for people with disabilities.
