The Lampeter Library will be closed from Thursday June 26th, and then re-open on the 1st September by appointment only.
What we know
- The library in Lampeter is not closing, so not all physical resources will be transferred from the Lampeter library to the Carmarthen library
- The University does not have the same size of library building in Carmarthen as Lampeter, however the Carmarthen Campus library has more than sufficient room based on the numbers of students who are studying on the campus
- All physical resources that are on the essential reading list are being moved (this is more than 1,000+ books, and journals will also be relocated) and assurances have been provided that there is ample room for the 1,000+ books and journals in the Carmarthen Campus library
- Any books from the main collection remaining in Lampeter will be available upon request via the University Library’s click and collect service
- Accessing special collections and archives will be by appointment only from Monday 1st September 2025.
What we would like to work with the University on
- Confirmation on how the the inter-campus loan scheme would work
- Confirmation on whether the special collections and archives materials will be embedded within modules
What is next
- Courier system will be taken forward until December 2025 (this happens twice a week across all sites)
The Senior Library team are working on further details for arrangements.
