Peace Mala is a unique, multi award winning educational project which provides a complete, effective and innovative answer to all the requirements of the Government's ESDGC directive (Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship).
The project promotes community cohesion and global citizenship: using the Golden Rule, ‘Treat others as you would wish them to treat you’, as a focus to encourage positive relations between young people, their plural community and international cultures.
The goals
· Conveying the universal message of the ‘Golden Rule’: Treat others as you would wish them to treat you.
· Emphasising human rights, international, multi-faith, and cross-cultural respect
· Empowering young people with the knowledge that they have the power to make a positive impact on our world
· Teaching that small, localised actions can affect the wider world
· Increasing awareness of South Wales’ diverse community
Objectives
Our main educational aims are:
· Education for global citizenship through the promotion of understanding, respect, friendship and peace between all communities, cultures and enlightened compassionate faiths.
· Supporting human rights, tackling bullying and all forms of prejudice.
· Raising awareness of issues of global interdependence and encouraging active compassion by learners that will lead to positive changes locally and globally.
